Netflix reunites the His & Hers crew to turn Alice Feeney’s Twist into a gripping thriller series.

Alice Feeney’s next novel ‘Twist’ to become Netflix series

The Netflix thriller that dominated the platform’s first half of 2026 is poised to spark another high-profile adaptation. His & Hers starring Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson, amassed more than 104 million global views and earned the title of the streaming service’s most-watched series for the period. Building on that momentum, the same creative collective is now attached to a second project based on author Alice Feeney’s forthcoming novel Twist.

Twist is billed as a marriage-driven suspense tale that follows a flight attendant leading parallel lives with two husbands, each unaware of the other. When a murder upends their fragile equilibrium, secrets spill out in a narrative that flips between dual points of view. The premise promises the same knot-tying intrigue that made His & Hers a cultural touchstone, while exploring fresh angles of love, betrayal, and revenge.

Why His & Hers set the bar so high

When His & Hers debuted on Netflix in January, it quickly became a phenomenon, pulling in 104 million streams worldwide by the end of June. Nielsen data confirmed it as the top-ranked series across all U.S. streaming platforms for that timeframe. The show follows former news anchor Anna Andrews (Tessa Thompson) as she returns to her Georgia hometown to investigate a murder, crossing paths with her estranged ex-husband, detective Jack (Jon Bernthal). The chemistry between the leads, combined with a tightly woven plot, earned the series critical praise and massive audience loyalty.

Behind the scenes, writer-director William Oldroyd spearheaded the series, while a cadre of producers—including Kristen Campo’s Campout Productions, Jessica Chastain and Kelly Carmichael’s Freckle Films, and the actor-run Viva Maude—helped shape its tone. Their collaborative success laid a solid foundation for the next venture, giving Netflix confidence to green-light another Feeney adaptation.

Details of the upcoming Twist adaptation

According to the latest announcement, Oldroyd will again assume writing and directing duties for the Twist series. The project will be produced under the banner of Fifth Season the studio that packaged His & Hers, and will also involve Campout Productions, Freckle Films, and Viva Maude. Executive producers slated for the new series include Oldroyd, Campo, Chastain, Bill Dubuque, Thompson, Feeney herself, Kelly Carmichael, and Kishori Rajan.

The novel is set for a U.S. release in February 2027 through Macmillian Publishers. Its storyline centers on Ariella, a flight attendant who juggles two marriages—one to Noah, with whom she has a daughter, and another to Luka, whose family lives in a different city. A sudden homicide forces Ariella’s dual identities to collide, propelling the narrative toward a series of shocking revelations. The adaptation will retain the book’s dual-POV structure, allowing the audience to experience the unraveling mystery from both husbands’ perspectives.

Oldroyd’s agency relationship is handled by WME and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole, while Feeney is represented by WME and Curtis Brown. Their involvement underscores the high-profile nature of the project and suggests a fast-track development timeline, especially given the proven chemistry of the production partners. Noah Greenshner, EVP and Head of TV Creative at Fifth Season, noted that the prior triumph of His & Hers “demonstrated what this group can accomplish together,” expressing excitement about re-uniting the talent pool for Twist.

Feeney echoed the sentiment, calling the reunion “a dream come true” and indicating her eagerness to see the characters materialize on screen. With a proven track record, a star-studded production roster, and a compelling source material, the adaptation is positioned to become another flagship series for Netflix in 2027.
