In an era where media consumption is splintered across screens, DataFuelX is betting on consolidation. The company, co-founded by former television-sales leaders Dan Aversano and Michael Strober announced the debut of the DFX Marketplace a single-point solution that aggregates commercial inventory from a broad swath of broadcasters. By merging linear television slots with connected-TV (CTV) placements, the platform aims to give advertisers a unified view of premium video opportunities, whether they are buying by age-group, geography, or inferred interests.
During a recent email exchange, Aversano explained the vision: “We’re launching a cross-publisher marketplace for linear and CTV, supporting both demographic and audience-based buying. Agencies can engage through the web portal, APIs, or their own AI agents, and the system will handle direct transactions as well as programmatic execution.” He added that most existing solutions are limited to digital-only programmatic deals, positioning DFX Marketplace as a broader, more flexible alternative.
What the DFX Marketplace actually delivers
The platform’s core promise is a single gateway for ad-spend across multiple owners. Advertisers can select inventory using traditional demographic filters—such as age and gender—or more nuanced audience signals generated by data partners. The marketplace supports three distinct access methods: a browser-based interface for manual buying, robust APIs for integration into agency tech stacks, and autonomous AI agents that can negotiate and place orders without human intervention, while still leaving strategic decisions to the buyer.
Beyond the buying side, DFX Marketplace also facilitates direct transaction capabilities that bridge the divide between linear and digital worlds. This means a campaign can start with a traditional TV spot and seamlessly extend into CTV environments, with the same contract, reporting, and optimization logic applied end-to-end. The system’s architecture is designed to keep planning, activation, optimization, and performance analytics under a single dashboard, reducing the need for disparate tools.
Scale, partners and financial traction
According to the company, the marketplace is already backed by 13 premium video publishers that together account for nearly 40% of linear impressions across more than 50 networks. Those publishers collectively reach about 70% of U.S. TV households giving advertisers a truly national footprint. While the exact names of the partners were not disclosed, the launch event is slated to feature representatives from Fox Corp. and TelevisaUnivision as well as Sean Cunningham, president and CEO of the VAB the trade group that speaks for most U.S. television networks.
DataFuelX notes that its technology has already processed upward of $300 million in media transactions, signaling both adoption and confidence among major media owners. The involvement of seasoned sales veterans—Aversano and Strober, whose résumés include senior roles at WarnerMediaTelevisaUnivision and Nexstar Media—adds credibility to the venture and underscores the industry know-how behind the platform.
Why a cross-publisher solution matters now
The advertising landscape has become increasingly fragmented, with audiences drifting between broadcast, cable, over-the-top services, and mobile apps. This fragmentation makes it harder for brands to achieve the reach traditionally associated with premium video. At the same time, programmatic buying—where algorithms select ad slots based on data signals—has grown beyond pure-play digital environments into the streaming realm. Advertisers therefore need a way to buy linear TV spots with the same precision and speed they enjoy on digital exchanges.
Sean Cunningham summed up the market pressure: “Premium video remains one of the most powerful ways for advertisers to build reach, but the complexity of differentiating true premium video across an increasingly expanding, but diluted ad inventory infrastructure has limited the growth and its share of ” By injecting intelligence, automation and AI into the buying flow, DFX Marketplace seeks to modernize the infrastructure, making premium video inventory easier to access, transact, and scale.
