Unidentified Aerial Phenomena: Pentagon Discloses 72 New UFO Case Files

The Pentagon has released 72 new UFO case files, including reports of a potato-shaped craft, glowing red spheres, and spinning discs. These documents are part of the Trump administration's transparency initiative on unidentified anomalous phenomena.

Unidentified Aerial Phenomena: Pentagon Discloses 72 New UFO Case Files

The Pentagon has unveiled a new batch of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) files, adding to the growing collection of declassified documents related to UFO sightings. The latest release includes 72 files detailing encounters reported by military personnel, federal agents, and foreign observers. These documents are part of the PURSUE programinitiated by President Donald Trump to promote transparency regarding UAPs and potential extraterrestrial activity.

While the new files do not provide definitive evidence of alien life or government cover-ups, they offer intriguing details about several unresolved cases. The Pentagon defines unresolved cases as incidents where available data is insufficient to determine the nature of the observed object or phenomenon.

The Potato-Shaped Craft Over Colorado Springs

One of the most detailed reports involves a sighting near Colorado Springs, Coloradoin February 2026. Five US Army personnel at Fort Carson reported seeing an unusual object hovering above Cheyenne Mountain. The object was described as ‘potato’ shaped with distinct edges and a creamy, whitish opalescent color. Witnesses noted that it appeared to consist of ‘articulating fish scales or panels that were non-symmetrical, non-overlapping and irregular shaped.’

The object remained stationary for roughly two minutes before disappearing. No photographs or videos were captured. Investigators assessed with ‘low confidence’ that the sighting may have resulted from sunlight reflecting off snow-covered terrain and illuminating clouds. However, witnesses reported clear skies, and no evidence of balloons, aircraft, or known foreign technology was found in the area.

Glowing Orbs and Unrecognized Technology

Another case involved six federal law enforcement agents who reported observing bright orange and red orbs in October 2026. According to the documents, the objects appeared above a ridgeline and, in some instances, seemed to generate additional smaller orbs. The Pentagon’s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office reviewed several possible explanations, including military exercises and flare deployments occurring nearby. While these explanations were deemed plausible, they were not conclusive, and the observations could involve ‘unrecognized technology.’

The latest release also includes an FBI report describing a 2026 sighting in the northeastern United States. A witness reported seeing a bright red sphere near a wooded area, with a ‘white plasma sun’ at its center. The file includes cellphone footage showing two glowing red objects moving across the sky. The White House later shared the video online, referencing the case.

Global Reports and Historical Cases

Among the older documents is a CIA report from Zimbabwe dating to 2008. Witnesses near the country’s main airport described a disc-shaped object with rotating lights. The report states that ‘beams’ were observed emanating from the object. This case, along with others, highlights the global nature of UAP sightings and the ongoing efforts to understand these phenomena.

So far, the Trump administration’s disclosure effort has resulted in the release of roughly 300 UAP-related files dating back to the 1940s. The Department of War has indicated that additional records will be released in future tranches as reviews and declassification efforts continue.
