As the third season of Daredevil: Born Again winds down, Marvel used the stage at New York Comic Con 2026 to pull back another curtain: a brand-new live-action series titled Zodiac. The announcement, delivered by Marvel Television chief Brad Winderbaum confirmed that the show will arrive on Disney+ in 2028, with casting slated to begin within weeks and principal photography set for London during the spring of next year.
Winderbaum emphasized the secrecy that surrounded the project, noting, “If you’re a fan of the comics there is a lot hidden in that logo.” He added that production will kick off in London in the spring, followed by a 2028 release on Disney+. The timing aligns with Marvel’s broader plan to expand its television slate while the movie side continues to dominate the box office.
Decoding the Zodiac logo
The first visual clue presented at the panel was the series’ logo, a stylized wordmark that hides two iconic symbols. The capital “A” incorporates the classic S.H.I.E.L.D. emblem, instantly linking the series to the MCU’s historic espionage agency. Meanwhile, the “O” is rendered as a wheel divided into twelve segments, three of which are conspicuously absent. This wheel motif echoes the Great Wheel organization explored in Jonathan Hickman’s Secret Warriors and S.H.I.E.L.D. comics, hinting that the show may draw from that more grounded iteration of the Zodiac mythos.
Comic-book roots of the Zodiac cartel
The name Zodiac first entered Marvel lore in Avengers #72 (1969) as a super-villain cartel, each of its twelve leaders embodying a zodiac sign and wielding powers or costumes to match. While that version has appeared in animated projects like Avengers: United They Stand the wheel-inside-the-logo points toward Hickman’s revision, where a time-traveling Leonardo da Vinci created the secretive Great Wheel. This cabal comprised world-renowned spymasters—including Nick FuryDum Dum Dugan and John Garrett—as well as figures from Hydra and the Hand, each assigned a zodiac designation. The three missing wheel pieces correspond to the signs Scorpio, Virgo, and Aries, possibly representing Jake Fury, Il Professore, and da Vinci himself, suggesting the organization is incomplete at the series’ outset.
Potential MCU ramifications
Fans have already speculated that the S.H.I.E.L.D. element in the logo could pave the way for a resurgence of characters from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which concluded with its seventh season in 2020. Although the agency has officially been replaced in the MCU by S.W.O.R.D. the idea of a covert operation operating under the radar fits the spy-thriller tone Winderbaum described. Even series star Clark Gregg hinted at the possibility by sharing the announcement on his Instagram stories, stoking hopes that fan-favorite agents like Phil Coulson might reappear. Until further details emerge, viewers will have to keep an eye on official channels and, perhaps, on their horoscopes.
