Exploring the Nixon-Gleason Alien Story in Spielberg's Disclosure Day

In the realm of alien conspiracy theoriesfew stories are as intriguing as the alleged encounter between former President Richard Nixon and comedy legend Jackie Gleason. This bizarre tale, which has captivated UFO enthusiasts for decades, has found its way into Steven Spielberg’s latest film, Disclosure Day.

The story begins in 1973when Nixon supposedly took his friend Gleason to Homestead Air Force Base in Florida. There, Gleason claimed to have seen six or eight glass-topped containers that initially appeared to hold the mangled remains of children. However, Gleason later realized that the bodies were not human but alien.

The Gleason Divorce and the National Enquirer Revelation

A decade after the alleged encounter, Gleason and his wife Beverly Gleason divorced. It was during this time that Beverly decided to share her husband’s story with the world. She published an account of the incident in the National Enquirera tabloid known for its sensational stories. According to Beverly, Jackie was deeply affected by what he had seen.

The story gained traction among UFO enthusiasts, but skeptics remained unconvinced. The lack of concrete evidence made it difficult to verify the claims. However, the tale persisted, fueled by the intrigue surrounding the two prominent figures involved.

The Role of the Story in Disclosure Day

In Disclosure Daythe Nixon-Gleason encounter is presented as a true event. The film’s screenwriter, David Koeppexplained that the decision to include the story was driven by a desire to draw on collective cultural memory. By incorporating well-known alien lore, the film aims to create a sense of familiarity and authenticity.

The scene in question shows whistleblower Daniel Kellner (played by Josh O’Connor) sharing stolen security footage with his girlfriend Jane (played by Eve Hewson). The footage depicts Nixon greeting a heavyset man, later revealed to be Gleason, and showing him the alien bodies. The reaction of the characters underscores the shock and disbelief that such an encounter would evoke.

The Skepticism Surrounding the Story

Despite the intriguing nature of the story, many remain skeptical. The Skeptoid website, known for its critical analysis of conspiracy theories, has questioned the veracity of the claims. According to Skeptoid, the story was part of a bombshell book that Beverly Gleason was supposed to publish, revealing Jackie’s obsession with the occult and aliens.

In 1986UFO expert Larry Warren allegedly tracked down Gleason to verify the story. Gleason reportedly confirmed the encounter, but he passed away a year later, taking any further details to his grave. The lack of tangible evidence has left the story shrouded in mystery.

Would Nixon, known for his notoriously corrupt administration, really risk national security by showing a comedian dead aliens? The question remains unanswered, adding to the enigma. However, the story’s inclusion in Disclosure Day serves as a testament to its enduring fascination.
