The world of streaming is witnessing some extraordinary moments as Paramount+ and Peacock set new benchmarks with their recent offerings. From historic live events to reality TV phenomena, these platforms are redefining audience engagement.
The UFC event held on the White House lawn on June 14 has become a landmark moment for Paramount+. The seven-bout card, featuring a purpose-built octagon on the South Lawn, drew an impressive audience, making it the most-watched live event in the streamer’s history.
The UFC Event: A Historic Milestone
According to Nielsen streaming figures, the UFC card attracted 7 million viewers in the United States. Additionally, 1.2 million viewers in Latin America tuned in, based on data from Adobe Analytics. Paramount+ reported that nearly 17 million peoplewith 15.26 million in the U.S., watched at least one minute of the event. Viewing totals from other territories are expected to be released next week.
The event was a result of a suggestion by President Donald Trump and was brought to life by Trump friend and UFC CEO Dana White. This historic event is part of Paramount’s seven-year, $7.7 billion media rights deal with the UFC, which is owned by TKO Group. The deal has significantly expanded the UFC’s audience, with viewership being as much as 20 times higher than the previous pay-per-view average.
Love Island USA: A Reality TV Phenomenon
Meanwhile, Peacock‘s Love Island USA has kicked off its eighth season with remarkable success. Preliminary Nielsen data indicates that the show amassed 2.3 billion minutes of viewing over the first two weeks. This figure is expected to grow as data for the week of June 8 is currently understated. Compared to the first two weeks of season seven, which had about 1.86 billion minutes of watch time, this season’s performance is a significant improvement.
Peacock’s first-party data reveals that 26 percent of Love Island USA’s audience is watching via mobile devices. This mobile viewership likely increases the total viewing time, as Nielsen’s streaming ratings primarily measure viewing on TV screens. The show’s popularity continues to soar, making it a cornerstone of Peacock’s content strategy.
As the streaming landscape evolves, Paramount+ and Peacock are at the forefront, setting new standards with their innovative programming and historic events. The UFC event on the White House lawn and the success of Love Island USA highlight the dynamic and ever-changing nature of the streaming industry.
