VertTV launches untitled thriller starring 90210 alumni

The entertainment landscape is buzzing as two of the most recognizable faces from the 1990s teen drama 90210 have resurfaced together in a fresh format. Tori Spelling, famed for her role as Donna Martin, and Brian Austin Green, who played her on-screen love interest David Silver, wrapped filming on Wednesday in Los Angeles for an untitled thriller produced by the emerging studio vertTV. The project marks the first vertical micro-drama for either actor and also reunites Carol Potter, known to fans as Cindy Walsh, the mother of the Walsh twins.

VertTV’s vertical-drama strategy gains momentum

Founded in July 2026 by industry veterans Jeffrey Schenck, Barry Barnholtz and Peter Sullivan, vertTV positions itself at the forefront of the vertical-drama boom. After delivering more than 200 made-for-TV movies for brands like Lifetime and Hallmark, the company pivoted to ultra-short, smartphone-first series designed for portrait viewing. Its flagship titles such as Lone Star Hearts (starring Cindy Busby and Josh Henderson) illustrate the studio’s bet on bite-sized storytelling that fits the scrolling habits of mobile audiences.

Other vertTV projects illustrate the model

Beyond the forthcoming thriller, vertTV’s catalogue already includes the romance Finding Hope, featuring Jodie Sweetin, John Brotherton and Marla Sokoloff, and the comedic fish-out-of-water Chonda, starring Chonda Pierce alongside Regan Burns. These series reinforce the company’s commitment to original, actor-driven content that eschews the surge of AI-generated titles flooding the vertical market. In promotional material, vertTV emphasizes that every episode is shot with real performers on physical sets, without reliance on generative AI.

Untitled thriller brings 90210 alumni back together

The new vertTV thriller remains shrouded in secrecy; no plot specifics have been released. What is clear is the chemistry the three actors bring to the screen, rekindling the nostalgic dynamic that defined a generation of television viewers. Production concluded on a Wednesday in Los Angeles, signaling that post-production work is now underway for a series that will debut exclusively on vertTV’s dedicated iOS and Android app. The platform, launched alongside the studio’s vertical lineup, serves as the primary destination for these ultra-short narratives, targeting viewers who consume content in quick, portrait-oriented bursts.

Industry analysts note that while traditional linear TV and long-form streaming budgets are contracting, the micro-drama sector is experiencing rapid growth across North America and beyond. VertTV’s approach—pairing recognizable talent with a mobile-first distribution model—highlights a shifting paradigm where vertical series can attract both advertisers and audiences seeking concise, high-quality entertainment.
