Sony has just unveiled the home-entertainment schedule for Zach Cregger’s latest take on the iconic survival-horror franchise. The film will be downloadable now, while physical editions – 4K Ultra HD, a limited-edition steelbook, standard Blu-ray and DVD – will ship on December 29, 2026. At the same time, streaming giants are rolling out a packed slate of new movies and series from November 2 to November 8, giving viewers a blend of horror, comedy, drama and genre-specific thrills.
Resident Evil on every format
The new Resident Evil follows courier Bryan (Austin Abrams) as a single night spirals into a relentless fight for survival. Directed by Zach Cregger, known for Weapons and Barbarian, the movie promises a fresh narrative that honors the video-game roots while appealing to non-gamers. The digital version became available on November 3, 2026, and the physical copies are slated for release at the end of December.
Collectors can choose from several editions. The 4K Ultra HD disc delivers 2160p video with a 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos-compatible sound, while the steelbook bundles the 4K disc with a standard Blu-ray in a premium case. Both versions include multiple language tracks (English, French-Quebec, Spanish) and subtitles, plus an audio-description track for accessibility. The standard Blu-ray offers 1080p resolution with the same language options, and the DVD presents an anamorphic 2.39:1 picture with dual-language audio.
Bonus material is extensive. Viewers can explore a feature titled Game Changer: Directing Resident Evil, which delves into Cregger’s approach to adapting a game for both gamers and general audiences. Another segment, Flesh and Bone: Designing the Monsters, showcases concept art and practical effects behind the infected, zombies, and other grotesques. An Anatomy of a Scene break-down walks through the creation of the infamous elevator showdown, and an audio commentary from Cregger himself provides a director’s perspective on set. All of these extras are available across the 4K, Blu-ray and digital releases.
Weekly OTT launches: a genre-spanning menu

Regional viewers can enjoy Dulquer Salmaan’s Malayalam action thriller I’m Game on JioHotstar, the Tamil sequel Meesaya Murukku 2 on SonyLIV, and the romantic drama Nooru Kodi Vaanavil on ZEE5.

Physical media and digital storefronts expand the catalogue
Physical-media enthusiasts are not left out. Paramount’s Criterion Collection drops a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray set of Alfred Hitchcock’s Harold and Maude, while Universal celebrates the 25th anniversary of Shrek with a new 4K Ultra HD edition priced at $19.99. A limited-edition steelbook of Gone with the Wind also lands in stores, offering collectors a pristine 4K restoration.
Digital platforms see notable theatrical titles become available for purchase. Lance Oppenheim’s thriller Primetime, starring Robert Pattinson and Skyler Gisondo, arrives on November 3. Jane Austen’s newest adaptation, Sense and Sensibility, follows suit the same day, alongside the monster-horror feature Beware Boiúna and the sci-fi thriller Model Citizen starring Aaron Eckhart. These releases give home viewers immediate access to recent festival and limited-run films without waiting for a physical disc.
Overall, the week offers a balanced mix of horror, comedy, drama and genre-specific blockbusters, ensuring that both collectors and stream-first audiences can find something that fits their taste.
